We had an amazing experience at Ma's Halal Chinese! The fact that the entire menu is fully halal made it even more special for our family. It was very busy but we were seated right away. Every dish we ordered was incredibly tasty, and the soups were especially delicious—so flavorful and comforting. Quality and quantity was great. The customer service was outstanding; the staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome. We enjoyed such a wonderful family time together, and everything from the food to the atmosphere exceeded our expectations. We will definitely be coming back again!

If you haven’t been to Ma’s House Chinese Halal Restaurant yet… I’m not saying you’re doing life wrong, but you’re definitely missing out. First of all—a REAL Chinese Halal restaurant in Houston is rare. Rare like “I saw it and immediately had to pull up” rare. And the fact they’re serving healthy, no-MSG food? Baby, that already calmed my mind because at my age I’m trying to eat good… while still eating GOOD. Now let me tell you how I test a new restaurant like a professional: I always tell them, “I eat everything. I’m used to all flavors. As long as it’s fantastic, I’m in.” So I asked my waitress Lucy what I should order—and whew… the result was not just good. It was shockingly amazing. 🥇 #1: Beef with Broccoli (YES, the “basic” dish… but it’s NOT basic here) I took my first bite and literally froze. The beef tasted like a soft, upgraded version of Chinese beef jerky—the kind that pulls a childhood memory out of your soul like “surprise, you’re 8 again.” It’s on the sweeter side, a little chewy, but still soft—and that sweetness makes it so exciting and addictive. It also pairs with everything on the table like the friend who gets along with everybody. 🥈 #2: Beef Stew (out of this world) This beef stew? Unreal. And here’s the key: I’m picky about tendon. Most Chinese places make tendon too soft for me. I like it a little chewy—and Ma’s House delivered it exactly right. You can tell they simmer it forever because the flavor is already deep inside the beef. They load it with Chinese cabbage and clear noodles, and the soup portion is huge—like, I already know when I get home, I’m using my own noodles to turn that leftover broth into a second homemade noodle soup. And yes, it’s going to still taste beyond amazing. 🥖 Signature Big Bread with Sesame Seeds (carb lovers, this is your religion) Can this bread be any bigger?? It’s basically a 20-inch pizza without being a pizza. The outside is crispy and toasty, the inside is soft dough heaven, with a little salty bite, green onion… just everything. I was already happy eating it plain, just appreciating the dough—then I dipped it into the beef stew and I was like… excuse me, am I a genius? Because that combo is ridiculous. And since it’s so thick, you can literally open it up, stuff other dishes inside, and make your own little “Chinese Halal pizza moment.” Dining here becomes an activity. 🐑 Lamb Soup (for people who think lamb is “too gamey”) I know some people get nervous about lamb because of the smell. Let me save you: If you haven’t tried their lamb soup, you’re missing out. It has different parts of lamb inside, but you don’t smell or taste the gamey-ness at all. The soup is milky, rich, and so good, and it’s honestly the perfect winter nutrition comfort food. If I didn’t order so many dishes, I would’ve been hogging this one all night. 🌯 Beef Wraps Appetizer (hard to find, harder to make) If you love beef dishes and you haven’t tried their beef wraps, stop playing. This is one of the most popular appetizers in China, and a lot of restaurants don’t offer it because it’s hard—the wrap skin has to be thin but still have texture, and the beef needs heavy seasoning and balance. They absolutely nailed it. Especially when it’s fresh to the table—so good for older people, kids, everybody. The beef flavor is so balanced it left me speechless. ⭐ Service + Space: “Ma’s House” really means it It’s honestly rare to get this level of attentive service these days. Lucy was knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and kept my table clean the whole time. I felt taken care of without being hovered—perfect. And this place is huge. They even have two private rooms, which is rare in Chinatown—so if you have a big party and want healthy, flavorful, Halal Chinese food, this is absolutely a top choice.

Food was decent, and the portion size was very good for the price. Everything was fresh and arrived hot, just the way I like it. The ingredients also seemed fresh and good quality, especially the mushrooms and tofu in the soup, which were excellent. Ordered sweet n sour soup, egg fried rice, garlic chicken with jalapeño, and Mongolian beef. Everything tasted great and was better than many other halal Chinese places I’ve tried in the area. One small suggestion - it would be nice if customers could choose their spice level, as preferences vary, especially when kids are involved. The default spice level was good, but some may prefer it milder or spicier. Service was okay, would recommend to have a bit more friendly staff. Everyone was very quiet and to the point except for a lady who actually made some communication. A smile goes a long way. Atmosphere was also descent, just a little more organized sitting arrangement with extra tables and crockery and cutlery removed from the main hall can improve the overall ambiance. Overall, very good food, and I would highly recommend giving this place a try

Pretty good spot for some halal Chinese food. The restaurant location is pretty big and is decently decorated. The staff is friendly and attentive. The menu has some good variety. We tried the hot and sour soup which was great. Filet mignon black pepper which was excellent and a must try, chicken chow mein which was good as well as kung pow chicken and garlic jalapeno which were both good but needed a little more spice and most importantly needed MORE sauce as it gets dry with the rice.
