What a fantastic meal at Skewr. This wood fired Mediterranean spot does mezze, skewers, and 48 hour sourdough pizza, all served family style. We went with the $75 per person prix fixe, the Skewr Experience, which builds a spread of an appetizer for each guest plus a skewer, a main, and a side to share. For the amount and quality of food, it was an amazing deal and well worth it. We added the lamb burger and the hot honey pizza on top, and the table was loaded. The smoked eggplant was the runaway star, absolutely to die for and the best appetizer by far, roasted eggplant with a pine nut gremolata that had real depth. The freshly baked sourdough pita that comes with the skewers was blistered and perfect for scooping. The flame roasted feta with truffle chili honey was rich and delicious, and the beef filet skewers were incredibly tender. For the mains, the lamb burger with smoked feta and chili peppers was amazing, easily one of the best things we ordered. The steak frites delivered too, a well cooked NY strip with salsa verde and crispy beef tallow fries. The Pepperoni Hot Honey pizza on their 48 hour sourdough was another standout, with a puffy blistered crust, crispy cupped beef pepperoni, and just the right kick of harissa honey. The only dish that landed as just okay was the hummus with confit lamb, still decent but not on the level of the rest. The service made the night even better. Our server Santiago walked us through the menu and was genuinely helpful throughout. Nadia went above and beyond more than once, first sending someone outside the restaurant to grab a Coke Zero so one of our guests could have exactly what they wanted, then refusing to let us leave without two complimentary desserts on the house even though we were completely stuffed. The mango passion fruit yuzu pavlova was out of this world, easily the best way to end the meal. The Basque cheesecake was decent, though we have had better. That kind of hospitality is rare, and it made the whole experience feel special. Pair it with the warm, cozy, candlelit atmosphere and you have a spot worth coming back to. Highly recommend.
