Man this place is a dive. I asked for white meat, was assured i would receive it. Sure enough, all thigh meat. The food was ok... nothing spectacular. The Chung King Mansion, where it is located is pretty shoddy. I didn't like bringing my wife there. Too many desis staring at her as though they had never seen a woman before (properly covered mind you).

Chunking Mansions is in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon along the busy street of Nathan Road. The MTR (underground rail system) station is just across the street. This building hosts many super cheep, and also sub-standard, guest houses which are house to immigrant workers from India/Pakistan/Bangalades area and among them some muslims. nested amongst the 100s of little shops on the first fllor of this building are stall that sells halal Indian food and sweets. If you can get over the filth and sleeze in and around this building, the food is not that bad. Just walk the narrow hallways and you will find these stalls.

On a recent business trip, I took a client to this restaurant who also happened to be San Francisco based. His comments were, "The food is good but it is not like Shalimar. I have been to Khyber Pass on my previous visits and liked this restaurant. The food ans service are good and the prices are reasonable - considering regular Hong Kong prices. I recommend it.

GoogleWe've been coming to Chung King to eat since we were kids, and we usually eat or buy groceries from our friends who own stores on the ground floors in Chung King, but this time I wanted to eat somewhere and something different. A late-night curry craving was happening, so we came across Khyber Pass Mess Club, Block E, 7th Floor, Chung King, Tsim Sha Tsui. We were incredibly happy that we went & ordered all our favorites! Dishes like masala pappad, paneer tikka, chilli chicken, mutton rogan josh, deep-fried puri, and a side of onions. Every single choice was cooked to perfection and made with clean ingredients. Yes—oil and masala will be used, but the food was light and tasty, yet filling. The Kashmiri Puri was the best puri I've had in my life; I actually took the leftovers home and decided to reheat them on the pan for that taste again. This is how I know the ingredients used are fresh and made on the day because round 2 was just as yummy and filled with enjoyment. Khyber Pass Mess Club takes great pride in hygiene, good cooking, and a safe and accepting environment. I'd say it's definitely worth going up a few floors to try their Indian food. As for me, when I'm craving goat, I'll know exactly where to go next time. Thanks for your great food and service!
