While Cedar Market has a great selection of sweets and Middle Eastern products, there are some very legitimate issues with their meat. The "certificate" they show for the beef and lamb is a Xerox copy that has the top part of it (where the name and address of the store go) folded back -- so you can't see it. The chicken is halal and has a tag to prove it -- from Salaam Butchers. Also, be aware that Cedar Market sells a large number of alcoholic beverages (beer, wine), as well as cigarettes. When considering that you can now get many of the same products from other Arabic or Muslim markets in the same area that have opened in the last 2 yrs(including other places owned by non-Muslims), you may think carefully about shopping here. I did.

Grocery store has a few halal products, but I mainly go here for the awesome shawarmas, kabob sandwiches. Owners are Lebanese (non-Muslims) I believe, but they have assured that all the meat they serve is halaal, and are willing to show certificates. Great authentic Lebanese sandwiches, good deserts including baklava, great prices as well. I usually call ahead and get take out cos they can be busy.
