You cannot beat an OG classic spot. Must try their ranch gyro pizza

One of our go to places when the kids are hungry. We also have catered from here several times, and everyone asks where we got our food.

Great food. Prices are a bit high. They really care about the food they make though so it's worth it. Burgers and ribs are legit.

Overall good. Good burgers, pizza is okay, ribs are great. Once i had ordered a burger to go and the bun had mold on it, i was turned off but other experiences have been good.

The best zabiha wings and pizza around. The burgers are not so great, but not the worst. However, the environment is not that great, so I prefer take-out unless it\'s absolutely necessary. But the quality of the wings and pizza is enough to overlook the bland burgers and the poor environment. If you haven\'t tried Zak\'s wings or pizza, you are definitely missing out. For parties we often cater full tray of wings or Zak\'s Pack, both of which everyone seems to love.

Go for the ribs, eat the sajid burger, eat anything actually since it's all good, then go back for the ribs. Delicious! Good service, clean dinner style eatery that's family friendly and Halal confirmed with indices on the wall. I've never seen that before. See you there, for the ribs!

What happened to this place? Went in last weekend after about 9-10 months. Quality of food and service not the same as before. Or is it just me imagining? And, I don't see any reviews since jan 2014 so I'm guessing something is up! Anyhow, First off the chic who they have sitting on the counter needs to check her attitude, I asked if I could have cup for water, she said no, they don't give out and only sell bottled water and if I want one with my order, I said no it's ok, we have water bottle in the car, I'll go get it and she was like we don't allow outside drinks and if they see you they can kick you out. Wao. Understood, but does that really happen or necessary. Then came the food, burger iordered and always have ordered in the past, was kinda dry and much much thinner. Chicken Paramesien pasta had meat sauce, I showed her and asked why, and she goes, not sure, it shouldn't have, did you specify you don't want meat sauce I'm like no I assume I'm having chicken so it'll come with chicken piece and regular sauce, she goes no you probably should've specified, like she herself was in agreement with me but didn't wanted to fix the order, anyway, I don't think I'll be going again anytime soon again. Very disappointed.

Honestly, this place hits the spot. I grew up eating Italian beefs, Italian sausage, hot wings, pizza puffs, all that delicious Chicago style food. Before eating here I hadn't had any of it in years and Mashallah, it probably tops most other places around, especially the Italian sausage and Italian beefs. There aren't any other halal restaurants like this one, and the quality is top notch.

Zacks...mA is a good place, been going here for years. the owner is a nice humble brother. I wouldn't take too much from the bad review people are leaving by just going there one time. most of the food is decent, fresh prepared and if you are in the mood for zabiha italian you can't go wrong, much better than other zabiha (or non) establishments that offer similar food. burgers are good, the pizza puffs are nice and even the pizza is not bad. not a five star place your average place that won't disappoint you.
Brother Zabiha
Burgers are good. Wings are ok. But I am completely turned off by them charging me $1 for extra condiments like jalapeños.
Waheed Khan
The menu here clearly states everything is Zabiha Halal and they have certificates present from the meat processors that verify in writing that all zabiha halal meat used by this restaurant beef & chicken is hand slaughtered by maulanas. We ordered a Krispy Ranch Chicken Burger, Spicy Gyros, & Spicy Honey BBQ Chicken Tenders. The food was as good as it can get for being halal and we will be going back to taste the other items soon.

I tried Sajid burger and chicken wings and loved them!
Halal Review
I feel that they try to do a good job but the burgers, wings come out way too much oily and greasy. The chef should try wings from Pitaville to try to improve his wings here.

I love the buffalo chicken sandwich and their pizza. The place is a bit pricy , no place to sit but food is delicious.

Excellent pizza and wings! Great place to get your meat pizza fix! Nice folks work there and the food is even better. Great for take out.

I have been here many times with friends and family. Not the greatest place to sit and eat, however the food has always been good.

This place is amazing. Theoir hot wings are simply delicious. They have a variety of sauces for their wings. Also, their pizza's and ribs are great too. The place is small, so my family and I just carry out and bring it home. Definately recommend.

Great burgers Pizza is amazing Ribs are excellent. It is not a full service restaurant so don't complain about service. Good people I have been there many times food is always good.

I have tried the mediteranean pizza and the meatball sandwich. Portions are phenomenal and quality is great as well. Please give Zak's a visit.

There BBQ Ribs are PHENOMENAL. I travel quite a bit but never had ribs like the ones served at Zak's. Do call ahead as ribs can take upto 45 mins to prepare.

Okay hands down food is great. I had steak. It was very juicy. I wanted medium well but it was well done. But still it was juicy so I did not care. Wife had chicken panine. It was good. Daughter had chicken strips and finally, one halal Resturant I know now where they were not out of the box. Food was nice and hot. Two negatives. Manu is too long and it's really not a sit down Resturant. I ll definitely go back for some carry out.

I don't know what the other couple of complaints were about, I LOVE this place. As someone who didn't always keep a zabiha diet, I'd say I would probably even eat here if I didn't keep it. Their Italian beef is amazing if you add mozzarella cheese and hot peppers. Love the Sajid burger and the BBQ beef sandwich too. Their chicken tenders are so so but I'll take their stuff over 90% of other halal places in the area (other than gyros which I prefer at Desi Grill or East N West if in Lombard... Nothing matches Italian Express gyros though). It is a bit pricy but nonetheless this is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. I couldn't be happier that we have a halal place that serves such a great selection - and the meat they use is the highest quality.

after reading all the ravishing reviews, we decided to try this place out over the weeked .. and boy was I dissapointed ! Went their on a sunday afternoon and the place was completely empty , that was a red flag right there , but still decided to try it ! Ordered a Sajid Burger and Chicken Bruschetta Sandwich , on recommendation of the lady at the register and both of them had absolutely no taste , if it wasnt for the BBQ sauce on top ... the meat was inedible ... the chicken had no taste , and the cheese wasnt even properly melted .! Would never go back ! and while I'm at it .. worse customer service ever, the lady behind the counter definetly could use some extra hours of sleep .. kept yawning the whole time .. even while taking the order ! WHAT A DUMP ! not sure what are all the good reviews are about

italian menu all zabiha. that should be enough, but the fact that everything i've tried tastes fresh and is simply sooo good warrants a little more. honey bbq wings are hands down some of the best i've eaten. zaks special pizza is also amazing. if youre around IF, or MSI, Darul Qasim- make zak's leg 2 of the evening

We order the Zaks 2 Pak, and it has pasta, hot wings & Pizza. I asked them if the food was spicy, and they said it was very mild. I asked them to make my food spicy. I got no warning.... When I picked up my food for iftar, it was soooooooo scorching spicy. I couldn't even take a bite of the pizza, or pasta! It burned my mouth so bad, it burned for an hr. I am Indian, and I can handle spicy, but there was something wrong with this food. I then called them to complain, and the guy was so rude. The owner basically said it was my fault for asking for spicy. He said he makes his food top notch spciy & no body else had complained before. I was being very nice, but then he got so offended and hung up on me! All I wanted was an apology or him saying he would warn other customers about the level od spice. Regardless .....never order anything spciy from them! The hot wings, only thing we could eat, were medicore....

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! I sadly dont live near this place but I went there while we were visiting family and kept going back everyday of our trip because we were in love! The best part about this plac eis that it has ZABIHAH written all over and has certificates everywhere! They have a HUGE menu with stuff you cant find halal anywhere else like bbq pulled beef sandwiches and rack of lamb! ahhh just talking about it is making my mouth water! The proportions are HUGE! You can SHARE each dish with 2 people EASILY! The prices are amaaazing as well, i cant believe how affordable it is compared to the proportions. You can ask them to spice things up a bit if that's how you prefer it. The owner recognized that we were new and came out to talk to us. The service was friendly and the bathroom was clean! This place could use a little more seating but DEFINITELY had us coming back to try new things regardless! I WISH I LIVED CLOSER!

Its a great place for trying Halal Italian food. We tried chicken wings and ribs. One of the best we ever had. We will try pizza next time. Owners are very friendly, limited sitting area though. A good addition halal foods.

First of all I really appreciate the effort. Quantity is excellent. Food however is blend. Owner and they hostess was real friendly and accommodating. Very welcoming restaurant.

Tried the Sajid burger and it was excellent: a nice thick, homemade patty. The wings were big and delicious and we tried the Honey BBQ and Buffalo sauces but I will have to go back to try the other sauces: there are 8, yes 8 different sauces that Zak's can prepare your wings with. If this place was on Devon, I would be there every week.

Tried this place out for the first time recently. I intended to order a deep dish pizza but the owner warned us it would take 45min to prepare so we ordered a large thin-crust pizza instead. It was above average. Even on a thin-crust pizza, I prefer a crust that's more like bread rather than cracker. This pizza's crust was too crispy for my taste. The pepperoni and sausage you can have at a zabiha restaurant is definitely nice though! Some desi places put way too much cheese on the pizza to make up for a bad crust and I'm glad that wasn't the case here. The decor is virtually non-existent and there is a very small dine-in area. Fine for a small group of guys but that's about it. I'm looking forward to trying some of the other items on their large menu.

The best Halal bbq ribs in Chicago period. Everything else here is subpar that I have tried including burgers and pizza. The only decent pizza was the gyros pizza. The Hawaain pizza was horrible as well as the Sajid burger. Good service though.

I was always skeptical of any halal place trying western food. But Zak's proved me wrong. We started in the month of Ramadan, just to try it out. And have been going ever since. The goal was to try dishes that we didn't make ourselves or couldn't eat because of the availability of a halal menu. And every time we have gone, we have not been disappointed. Highly recommended. I especially like the sausage pizza...but my wife likes the chicken. So we get it half and half. The place is small, so I would agree with the earlier review, it's better to just take out. Unless you don't mind the heat, by all means stick around. : > )

The burgers are awesome and the beef ribs are even better...I've always wanted to try beef ribs that are halal and I finally got a chance and I was very happy

Great food! But I recommend getting take out as the building has no AC and is a bit older and its atmosphere is too cashual for that 'eating out' feeling. We have had pizza, pasta, chicken and more there and they were all fresh and delicious!
Ms. Kabob Snob
Let me say this...Yumm-y! My hubby has been craving a halal Italian beef for over 10 years. We visited Chicago to see his family and found halal I.B...took the whole family and ate our faces off Masha Allah. Management...please turn on the AC

First let me start out by saying that Zak's is NOT fast food. Everything is fresh, and made to order. The hamburgers are the best zabiha burgers I've tried in over three years. They use fresh ground beef (not frozen patties) and you can taste the beef-iness in each bite. The hamburger buns are top quality as well. If you are a burger fan, then you absolutely must try this place. Call ahead because they take 15 - 20 minutes to make (like I said, NOT fast food). The pizza is also top notch - try the Zak's special with easy pepperoni. I've also had the spaghetti with meatballs - it was very good. The meatballs are huge, and of course fresh ground beef. I go to Zak's at least 5 times a week and they've been consistent every time - afternoons, evenings, and even late night. Unlike fast food, you can eat at Zak's every day, multiple times and never get sick. On a related note, Zak's is 100% zabiha. They serve nothing else.

Mostly a pickup place. They have a few tables, not very family oriented. However, the food is just too good. I go there on a weekly basis, burgers, chicken grilled, wings and pizza and all are always fresh and tasty. A very good sandwich shop for the Muslim community. Pricing is decent...but service and food are too good to pass up. Definitely a place to frequent.
Pukhtun Food
This is a brand new place and much to our delight they serve steaks, wings, pizzas, paninis etc. They have updated their webpage to indicate that the place serves halal and have removed all the pork and ham items (probably a residual from the previous owners). They have two steaks, NY & rib-eye. They were out of NY so I went with rib-eye. It was cooked to perfection (mediums as I ordered) but was kind of bland for my taste. It came with excellent wedge fries but the salad was very rudimentary. We also ordered buffalo wings, they have several flavor options. They were a little too saucy, I guess not as good as the ones I have had at Italian Express but they were OK. The chicken Panini was not very good, would not try that again. Overall I would rate this place just above average but they are new so I'll hopefully try them again in the future. Not a bad experience but nothing special either, its definitely something out of the ordinary though since you can't find too many places with halal steaks and wings. Restaurant décor is very basic with the place being quite small but it was clean and worth sitting in

GoogleBeen going here since I was in highschool/college. I used to enjoy their fried chicken wraps as it was affordable and the wraps were delicious. But lately going to zaks i feel like their employees are racist towards south asians. My little brother placed an order for takeout and i ordered 4 orders of 8 chicken wraps in total. The wraps are cheaply made and almost a scam of my money. Nothing is in the wraps anymore. Highly disappointed. I asked for ranch on the side they told my brother they dont do that anymore?? I paid 30$ for these wraps thats the LEAST you can do considering my chicken was DRY and had NO ranch on it. I also had to add my cucumbers, ranch and lettuce because they couldn’t even add that. they are rude, cheap and have no sense of customer service. In fact once we ordered the largest gyro pizza and never again because the gyro was just the machine cut frozen strips you can get from Makkah mart or Madinah mart. If you want real gyros go to Italian Express.

GoogleComing here for 2 years now but the wings are starting to get smaller & smaller. I come for primarily for the halal chicken but now even the fries are bigger than the meat & that's a HUGE problem! I don't know what happened guys but do BETTER. This is not cutting it!

GoogleVery good place to order Halal Food. I have been ordering food from them since they opened. Very good customer service. And good tasting food. Only issue I have is that the cost of the food has gone up and less meat in their sandwiches.
