I eat afghani all the time but this place had the most tasty kabul rice i have ever eaten. I took my cousins after going shopping, ordered chsppli kebabs which were okay but, shank kabli meat was so temder and rice flavorful. Chicken and shish kabobs were good too.
One of the best halal food restaurant in the Bay Area.
Place was good. Friendly staff. We had chapli and shami kabab and both of it lacked Flavor. just tasted like cooked ground meat. Place is small n was busy.
Nice little Afghani place close to downtown Hayward. Tried the Chapli Kabob plate and was pleasantly surprised at how much meat they give you! Very \"fat\" chaplis. Although I wish it was a bit crispier. The salad that comes with the plate is good, but the side of channa (garbanzo beans) and potato was way too small (it tasted good though). Friendly service and nicely decorated interior. Limited seating inside (approx. 9 small tables).
I passed by it yesterday. I will visit soon insh'Allah.
Halal sign is posted on several places in the restaurant and clearly on their website. We tasted Bolani and Combo plate and both of the items were so delicious though. We also want spicy and their food isn’t that spicy but flavorful indeed. Plenty of dining space even for a big family. Only the parking was a little bit difficult because it’s street parking. Overall recommended. ☺️
I had an extremely disappointing experience at Ghazni Kababs in downtown Hayward. I ordered Qabuli Palaw, Mantu, and a Chicken Shawarma Plate, but the food quality was shockingly poor. The rice tasted like it was leftover, and the meat under the rice was undercooked—a serious food safety issue. When I called the server and explained the problem, she said she would speak to her boss. Later, when I went to order more food, I informed the owner that I was upset because I had eaten some of the rice, but the meat was inedible due to being undercooked. His response was incredibly unprofessional. Instead of acknowledging the issue, he simply said, “I won’t charge you for the Qabuli Palaw since you didn’t like it.” I made it clear that this was not about personal preference—the meat was raw and unsafe to eat. After waiting 10 minutes, the owner returned with an extremely rude and unprofessional attitude. He aggressively held the plate in my face, implying that because I had eaten some of the rice, I didn’t deserve a refund. I never asked for a free meal—he was the one who initially said he wouldn’t charge me. However, instead of handling the situation with professionalism, he insulted me and arrogantly declared, “I don’t care how you review me. I am the boss of everyone here.” This restaurant is filthy, and the owner has zero understanding of customer service or food safety. The way he treated me was disrespectful, unprofessional, and downright unacceptable. If this is how they handle complaints about undercooked meat, I can only imagine what goes on in their kitchen. Avoid this place at all costs. There are far better Afghan restaurants in the area that actually care about their customers and serve properly cooked food.
Place is literally worthless. Chicken quality is so poor. Their chicken korma is a joke. Zero flavor, chicken is hard like rocks. Chicken kabob is worthless, rice worthless, whole operation here is lackluster. Place should just shut down. Never will I spend another penny at this place again. This is not authentic afghan food. This is McDonald’s style food at best. Rip off and poor quality. Please close your doors.
I wasn't even that hungry but I finished everything I was given because it all tasted so wonderful. I don't even like olives but I happily ate all the ones that came with my salad. The bread came with a peculiar green dipping sauce. I was dubious of the sauce but it actually tasted amazing, as did the bread. The chicken with the chicken kebob... before you even taste it you're met with a wonderful charred aroma, and the flavor is even better. I only left off a star for service because the wait staff was pretty scarce even though I was the only person there, and they didn't take away finished plates as they were finished... but no big deal. Same with atmosphere. No music, shabby interior, but they're making the most of what they have. Again, not a big deal. The place is clean and the food is good, that's what really matters (hence 5 stars!).
I stopped by this place based on reviews but it is not good. Bollani was the only decent item. Afghan bread was dry and stale. Chicken kabob and korma was not good either. Limited street parking
My dad and I ordered a double combo, lamb skewers, and mantu (which is like a ground beef dumpling with lentils and sauce on top). It was very tasty, and the serving sizes are so big that just these three dishes were more than enough for both of us and we had leftovers to take home. In particular, we enjoyed the lamb skewers, which were flavorful, hot, and tender inside, but with a decent chew to it (maybe that’s just me, I like meat served this way). You can very much taste the freshness of their preparation in their grilled meats. The scan to pay option is also quite handy for payment. We will definitely come back again, and if you want to support local family-owned businesses, we strongly recommend stopping by. Just a small note: be warned that parking is a bit of a problem, so be prepared to park in the street or some distance away. Other than that, an amazing experience.
The Quabili pallaw was delicious - the lamb was tender and the raisins with rice was well done. Generous portion, though a bit pricey for a meal. Minor nitpick is that the basmati rice used could be more fragrant, but that is a personal preference. The triple combo was a meal with good variety. I found the chicken rather tough and dry, but this is expected. The highlights were the other 2 meats, and served in combination with the salad and rice it made for an excellent combination of a meal. Finally, we had the Borani Bajan appetiser. It was really enjoyable. I would definitely return for this refreshing dish. Overall a pleasant experience. Parking a little difficult, environment is basic which appealed to me as an inexpensive restaurant, prices are decent, service is pass-able, nitpicking here because the server was holding her phone while attending to us. We were here for the food, and the food is excellent.
Just dined at this halal gem, and I must say their portions, both main dishes and appetizers, are incredibly generous! Service was brisk and our food arrived in no time. One thing to note: there's a distinctive aroma when you first enter, possibly from the spices they use, but you quickly adjust and it becomes a non-issue. The owner was especially gracious, adding a personal touch to our dining experience. We'll certainly be returning for more
