GoogleI walked in close to 3:00 pm, that tricky hour in Paris when most kitchens have already closed. Outside of very touristy areas or fast-food spots, finding a proper lunch at that time can be a challenge. As soon as I opened the door, I asked if the kitchen was still serving. Without hesitation, the gentleman behind the counter said yes and immediately turned to the chef to announce, almost ceremoniously, “We have the last lunch guest.” It was a small gesture, but it carried that subtle sense of pride and hospitality that defines traditional French service. The Food To keep things simple, I opted for the lunch special. Before anything else, bread arrived at the table, and it was exceptional. One of the best traditional baguettes I’ve had in Paris: crusty on the outside, airy inside, full of flavor. A detail many overlook, but here it set the tone. The starter was a shrimp salad with greens, tomatoes, and feta cheese. Fresh, balanced, and vibrant, tied together with a beautifully seasoned vinaigrette that elevated the simplicity of the ingredients. The main course followed: risotto with gambas. Creamy without being heavy, perfectly cooked rice, and shellfish full of flavor. The dish was generous, well-executed, and clearly prepared with care. The chef even stepped out to ask if everything was to my liking, a thoughtful and personal touch. Atmosphere & Service The atmosphere is warm and unpretentious. It feels like a neighborhood spot where regulars are known and newcomers are welcomed with genuine friendliness, attentive service, consistent quality, and a relaxed yet professional vibe. When I declined dessert, they suggested coffee instead, confidently assuring me they had good coffee. They were right. It was strong, smooth, and the perfect ending to the meal. It’s the kind of restaurant that reminds you why Paris remains one of the great food cities of the world, not only because of haute cuisine, but because of small places like this, where pride, flavor, and hospitality come together naturally. A genuine and charming discovery.
