We had high hopes for this restaurant and I don’t like leaving negative reviews for Chefs as their work is challenging. However this is one of the most disappointing tasting menus I’ve had. We ordered the vegetarian tasting menu, the dishes were plated beautifully, but that’s about it. The ingredients were ‘placed’ together but the taste lacked fusion and creativity. When we ordered the cheese board, it was mainly carrot cake and only 1 type of cheese. When we expected the Petit Four, we got 1 prepackaged tiny piece of fudge each, and when I questioned it, the waiter mumbled something about ‘people get too full by this point and don’t want so many desserts at the end, it’s a bit much’. I’m sorry but then don’t write it on the menu. My main course tasted like it was boiled potatoes, pickled onions and mayonnaise/cheese sauce with drops of truffle oil (despite having a gourmet title) - no fusion, just ‘put together’. The table was extremely dark so I could hardly see what I was eating, felt a bit like dining in the dark and guessing at what was on my fork. It’s a real shame as we had high hopes. Ambience was romantic however, and the staff were extremely attentive and kept our glasses topped up, which was nice. Just a shame about the actual food. I really wanted to like this restaurant but we won’t be returning unfortunately, so sorry. Last week we went to a Michelin star restaurant and spent 10% more. I would rather do that again. This was extremely overpriced for what it was worth.
