Non descript place. First time having West African food so nothing to compare it to. I had rice and beans, and a chicken dish that was cooked in bbq sauce, also had chicken wings, and some meat balls. All in all the food was decent, the place isn\'t the nicest to sit down in. They have an open buffet area and they charge you based on the weight of your plate. They have a prayer area upstairs I believe.
good variety of african dishes, takes debit cards and has a musalla upstairs
It' was a very settle place with a variety of items. I wasn't able to identify most of the items such as the meats .Aside of the whole tilapia my Senegalese brother told me that all the other meats were Beef . I didn't see Any lamb or goat at the buffet . There were no labels on the dishes to identify. The place was clean and the food was delicious even though I was hungry coming from a local bar . I'd definitely go again
This place is brilliant!! I was here for a casual lunch with a friend on the weekends and their food trays were filled with fresh food and none of them looked empty/sad. It has everything, rice&beans, chicken, fish, salad section, fruits, and of course all the African specialties as well. It’s buffet style, which I love because then I can try a bit of everything and they charge you based on the weight at the end. Today I got some fish, chicken gizzards, pig feet, fried chicken, avocados, rice and of course some veggies. So yummy!! It came out to be around $10 for me but I imagine someone with a bigger stomach might spend closer to $15 but it’s very affordable for midtown NYC. There’s also a drinks section where you can make tea/coffee yourself. Will be back!
Great variety, many options, freshly made, and amazing taste. I was blown away by the flavors and unbelievable value. You won’t get something this quality for the price range anywhere else in midtown and halal for all my fellow Muslims!
Dropped by for a quick lunch since this was right next to our hotel. Lots of authentic West African food. They have toned down the heat for Western palate but the food tastes great nevertheless. They offer a wide variety of meats - chicken, lamb, beef, fish. I enjoyed the jolof rice. Limited options in main course for vegetarians. Decent dine-in space but it's the quality of food that stood out for me.
For a long time, it was booked marked in my map as "want to go." I was not expecting such delicious taste. There are lots of choices and hard to choose. Please look at the pictures and videos ??? I got small portions from different foods, but still, it was hard to choose. More over these, the price is very competitive. You get the container, fill it, and pay for $8.25/lb. And I paid $12 with a can drink? Whenever I come to NYC, I will definitely visit here
Authentic West African cuisine that’s close to NY Penn. I tried a bit of everything and wish my stomach had space for more. I love the feel of the place and there is also a musalla downstairs to catch your prayers.
Hidden jem in the city. Loved the great taste of African cuisine.
It's food so if it's to be critiqued, taste is what matters. The authenticity of your meal selection, no matter what you choose will take you right home. Halal and fresh are a combination that I think Dr. Sebi would endorse, and the robust flavors and village buffet setting make for a meal that is not only delicious, but truly heart felt. And without waxing all poetic it simply taste good. I rate taste exceptional. They’ve got TVs for Soccer matches and some signage, I’d love to see some more artwork, but otherwise wouldn’t change a thing. Love, love, love.
