GoogleWe thought we'd give this new restraunt a go after snagging a Sun FM voucher.. this cost £20 but was worth double in the restraunt. First impressions go a long way in our book.. and while the place is clean and well decorated to a modern standard it just didn't feel like a nice place to eat from the off. It was absolutely freezing cold inside, there was no music, there were no cooking aroma's, the tables are massive making you feel like you're miles away from each other. I think they really need to make more of an effort to make this place welcoming.. it's just not. I would add however that the staff are very friendly and cheerful. I'll be honest.. we had no idea what a Handi house was but at least thought there may be some more "traditional" indian choices on the menu that my son would like. Not really... even the Tandoori Tikka Massalla is so far removed from what you would normally expect... he didn't like it. In fact, the menu on a whole is very limited in options from top to bottom. The lack of alcohol wasn't really an issue but the drinks were a rip off... £2 for a standard can of pop.. £2.50 for small bottle of water. The starters were ok, but served on freezing cold thick slates.. there was no attempt to keep your food warm. Cooked well, but portion size leaves a lot to be desired.. the lamb in particular was a pretty poor show (main grill as a starter) For main I had the Palak Gosht, which was nice and spicey.. full of deep flavours but ultimately not something I would order again. The wife had Peshawri Karahi, which she found pretty average and as mentioned the Tikka Massala was also a bit of a let down. As for the Pilau rice, you wouldn't honestly tell the difference between that and a bag of microwave Uncle Ben's. Naan bread was small.. not really a sharer. We didn't bother with dessert as we were keen to get outside for a warm. The place is expensive too in my opinion.. even with our voucher we paid an additional £15. the total bill coming to £55 - for 2 adults and a child! In summary.. expensive, average and cold - wouldn't go again. I'd expect this place won't get a lot of repeat custom in all honesty.. it may be reliant on first timers just giving it a try. Also, given the location I'm not expecting it to stick around too long anyway. Plenty of "decent" restraunts in this area have bit the dust and there are much better places to spend a lot less money in.
