East African cuisine, both vegetarian and meaty, with Indian overtones. Small, simple sit-down section but lots of take-out and catering customers too. Right across from Masjid As-Saalam. Food is cooked fresh, make sure to call ahead if you want something specific especially close to 6:30pm closing time.

Apparently this Halal restaurant has been around for 20 years! We discovered it quite by accident, and it was a happy accident. Extremely friendly staff, fast and very helpful. Food was excellent, we love Indo-African and while this is a simple restaurant, the food was excellent. We tried the chicken pakora, beef ribs and beef mishkaki (skewers) and they were great. We requested Medium spicy, and I (who am sensitive to over-spicy foods) found it just right, maybe could have gone a little hotter. The coconut chutney was perfectly spicy though and added a nice zing to the pakora and mogo.
We recently visited Safari Snack House in Burnaby on our travels to Vancouver, from Toronto, on the recommendation from a co-worker. Safe to say, we were very impressed with not only the quality of the food, but also of the comfort of the atmosphere and hospitality of the staff. Our favourite parts of the meal were the vegetarian samosas and mango lassi, as well as a delectable coconut chicken curry (that I can't remember the name of!). We definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a hot, fresh meal!
