Guzman y Gomez was named to honour old friends. We founded GYG to share our love of all things Latin: the food, the music, the art, and the warm sense of community. That's why we like to get actively involved with our local communities, and some further away from home to spread the GYG spirit.
Staff has given verbal assurance of halal status. From corporate headquarters: 'The chicken at all GYG restaurants is Halal certified - a copy of the certificate can be emailed upon request. We do have Halal certified chicken across all our locations. We do however work with other non-Halal meats and we do not follow halal processes in the kitchen.'
Score reflects a halal certificate on file.
This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. The restaurant was extremely disorganized, even though there were around 8–10 staff members working. We stood at the cashier for over 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged us or took our order. After ordering, we waited around 40–45 minutes for our meals. The portion sizes were disappointing despite ordering a large meal, the serving was very small. The food itself was also poor. The shiitake mushrooms and beef didn’t look fresh and tasted unpleasant. The chips were heavily seasoned with far too much salt and flavouring, making difficult to enjoy. We also found the restaurant to be very unsanitary and it didn’t feel like a safe or hygienic environment. The cleanliness of the premises was concerning and did not meet the standard expected of a food establishment. we waited almost an hour for a single cup of coffee. We followed up several times and were repeatedly told, “Just 2 more minutes,” but each time we ended up waiting another 15 minutes. The restaurant wasn’t even busy, so there was no obvious reason for such a long delay. When the coffee finally arrived, it barely tasted like coffee. The food quality, service, cleanliness, and organisation were all very disappointing. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend this place based on my experience.
