My favorite thing about Bundoo Khan is its customers. It\\\'s packed with Muslims, and I almost get the feeling of walking into an eid celebration. The food is good. I really liked their chicken tikka, and their paratha was excellent.
Not bead. We like food
Bundoo Khan is synonymous with authentic Pakistani BBQ and has been around since the 1950s in Pakistan. I was happy to see that they opened up this location in Fullerton, across the street from Cal State Fullerton. They serve grilled HALAL meats here as well as naan and parathas. For dessert they offer halwa, although they have partnered with Scoops and Scoops creamery which has their own menu offerings. I was eager to try everything on the menu here, so that's what I did, lol. Chicken Malai Boti ($11) - These boneless pieces of chicken were prepared in a rich and creamy marinade offering a really wonderful flavor profile. I was surprised at how tender the chicken was, it practically melted in my mouth and was my favorite dish of the night. Beef Bihari Boti ($11) - I was surprised at how tender the beef was. It too melted in my mouth like the chicken malai boti but the taste and spices used were completely different, providing another great tasting dish for all of my senses. Lamb chops ($13 for 5) - I love lamb and these lamb chops were so tender and juicy. The spices used here really made the lamb stand out. They were perfectly prepared and as I got closer to the bone the meat because so soft, it was almost as soft as the beef bihari kabobs. Chicken Tikka Bihari Leg/Thigh ($7) - This bone-in chicken leg quarter utilized some great spices and the meat was perfectly cooked. It was definitely more tender then other places serving tandoori chicken. Beef Seekh Kabob (12 pieces for $11)/Chicken Seekh Kabob (6 pieces for $6) - The seekh kabobs here are small and juicy, but aren't as flavorful as some of the other marinated meats. However for the price this is an excellent value! The beef seekh kabobs were slightly juicier than the chicken ones. Halwa ($5) - This is the best Pakistani/India halwa I have had in Southern California. It's got the perfect blend of semolina, sugar, and ghee. It's best to eat this with some paratha and has the perfect amount of sweetness. Naan ($2) -The naan here are on the thinner side and there was nothing special about them. Pricing is about average, but your going to have to get some to go with all the meats as rice is not served here. Paratha ($3) - The parathas here are big and are almost puri like. They went perfectly with the halwa as well as the seekh kabobs. Overall I was wowed by all the great tasting dishes here. There is so much variety here in terms of the kabobs. Each one is marinated differently and has its own unique taste. All of my senses are in a complete sense of bliss, having eaten my meal several hours earlier. Without a doubt, Bundoo Khan is one of the best Pakistani restaurants in Southern California. The food here is phenomenal and I'm glad to see authentic Pakistani BBQ cuisine. The restaurant itself is large and able to accommodate quite a few guests with some outdoor seating as well. Don't miss out on this gem of a place. They are still in their "soft opening" phase and hopefully will be fully operational soon.
This is the first authentic Bundoo Khan anywhere other than Karachi, Faisalabad and Dubai. All others are fake copies FYI. Yes, they have ordering and customer service issues to overcome, but the bottom line here is about the food. This place serves the most authentic Karachi street style kabob and Paratha one can get outside Pakistan. -The Chicken paratha rolls are amazing! -The Bihari Kabobs are mouth watering! -The Chicken and Beef Seekh kabobs are awesome (though less spicy than what I thought they should be) -The Naan bread is too good. -The standard large Paratha is soaking in a gallon of oil... US does not need to invade any middle east country anymore... they can get all the oil they need right here in Fullerton! All jokes aside, yes this food is greasy and spicy but it is not pretending to be health food of any kind. Anyone on a Kale salad diet will probably have a heart attack just driving by this place. Prices are quite reasonable, if you consider the quantity of food. Yes the soft launch has become long in the tooth and they should be opening the place around noon, not at 4:00 p.m. like they have been for over a month! I have not tried everything on the menu but can't wait to go back their again. Scoops'N Scoops ice cream serves their regular desserts inside and Ferrero Rocher ice cream was quite a hit. Standard Falooda is also always good to wash down the greasy food and kill the burn in your stomach.
I am very taste conscious and I would say they have the best authentic Pakistani BBQ. I was visiting LA with kids for Disneyland and found this place... I had tried almost all of their menu in two days :)
An excellent place for kobab and meat lovers. It’s originally a Pakistani restaurant famous since early 60s. Their kabab paratha specialty is known not only in Pakistan but also in Dubai, Saudi Arabia, USA and Canada. Their seekh kabab, malai boot, gola kabab, chanp, all are great and must to try. Plain naan, paratha and garlic bread were good too. Their refilable chai was so great in that relatively cold evening.
I went with a friend who has had this style of food his whole life and he can attest, authentic and delicious. 3 adults had lunch here this most recently. The garlic naan was perfectly soft and crispy with garlic and butter well balanced. We bought 12 seekh kebab (beef) and really enjoyed the flavor. This was my favorite, with the naan and raita. It was not spicy but very well spiced and flavorful, perfectly cooked, stayed together when you hold it but easily rips to bite with the naan. We got two orders of bihari boti (beef). This was very flavorful and not too spicy but if you are more of a mild kind of salsa person, plan for some sizzle in your mouth even with the raita. However, the fact that it is grilled and still has this texture as if it were slow cooked, amazing. It must be the marinade. This one was the favorite of my two lunch mates. Lastly, we got the chicken boti. I was told by my friend the later you go in the day, the stronger the flavor because it'll marinade longer. However, even at lunchtime, it was really good. This one also was a little spicy, but not as much as the bihari boti. I really enjoyed this with the garlic naan. Only negative but doesn't warrant removing a star, was that I didn't like the chai. I loved Chai all through India and have had it at home many places, but this one just wasn't my favorite flavor profile. It was a bit more bitter, so required 4 sugar packets and still wasn't my favorite. I went and had a mango lemonade instead and it was not overly sweet, good balance of flavors, very smooth, definitely made up for the chai! I wish I had come with a bigger appetite because it was a great meal. The food is very authentic. The flavor profiles unique. The techniques used to cook these foods is legit, and you can watch it all with the open view into the kitchen.
One of the best kabobs I have ever had in there. Must try their Sheekh Kabobs and Lamb Chops. Would love to come back again.
great food, nice staff, little rough around the edges on the napkin and sauce stations but maybe that was post the lunch rush. enjoyed it though. had garlic naan lamb chops seasoned fries and chicken breast malai
We went there last night by driving 34miles. The place is pretty good. There was a party going on. That’s why it was crowded. We ordered lamb chops, Special beef boti kabab, and Beef Bihari kabab along with parathas, lassi and Falooda. All the foods were really tasty. The parathas were little oily, but crispy and tasty. After a long time i got the taste of the real asian (indian) kababs!!! I would love to visit there again.
I almost never write a bad review, but I couldn’t help myself today. We ordered beef gola kabab, beef shikh kabab, chicken gola kabab with their special parathas. Sadly, none of the kababs even came close to the authentic Pakistani taste. They completely lacked the spice and flavor we were expecting. The paratha was overly greasy, which made it hard to enjoy. We tried their shuji halwa, which was just okay, but the gazar ka halwa was a real disappointment, nowhere near the authentic gazar ka halwa! Honestly, this place isn’t even comparable to local Pakistani spots in New Jersey or Houston, let alone the restaurants in Pakistan. It feels overrated and overhyped, and to top it off, I had stomach issues all night after eating here. I won’t be returning, and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone at all!! ?
That sounds like a wonderful testimonial! Here’s a polished version for you: --- I want to take this opportunity to thank the staff and restaurant for always being spotlessly clean and friendly. This place never disappoints. While nothing is perfect, I've never had a bad experience here. If you're in Orange County, please visit this place—it reminds me of Karachi, and their tamarind chutney is to die for. I don't know the staff or owner personally, but AB and Chris always make you feel welcome. Thank you, guys. This place is super clean.
