Not clean Food mostly from cans
The service is very bad, the waitress made us wait well over 1/2 hour just to order a gyro sandwich and a Sharvarma sandwich. Food tasted really good, but service was really aweful, we didn't even get our soft drinks after we began to eat.
Gud chicken shavarma...at a reasonable price.....will definitely go back.....:)
The owners are very rude and never say hi or thank you. The food is so so and the grocery is ok.
It is a restaurant/grocery store. The food is above average and cheap. I will definitely return to this restaurant.
The food was cheap and fast, we got a take away order. My chicken pita was way to greasy for my tastes. It was dripping grease and seemed very unhealthy. It was not indicated to me whether it was zabihah or not. Reading the quotes on here I am guessing it was not. We ate there because we assumed it would be zabihah. The store is decent but very crowded.
Good price for the food. However the food is so-so. I like to go to the grocery side.
This place is pretty good. The restaurant and the mediterranean grocery store share one building. Not everything is Halaal though. When I was there, the Gyro and chicken was NOT Halaal that day. However, the beef and lamb kababs were. I ordered the Kubideh platter. pretty good. Apparently this establishment is frequented by many and all; not just Arabs or Muslims. It was nice to see all kinds of different people there that day enjoying the same good food. Curious as to why everything is not halaal.
The grocery side has varieties of delicious baklavas. Great place to get spices, better priced than Asian markets in town. They also sell halal meat in the frozen section but they don't look fresh. This establishemnt can do better at improving customer service, I have never gotten a simple thank you every time I shop. If not for the baklavas I probably won't shop here.
For $2.50 you can get the best falafel sandwich around. Store has much good stock and prices are resonable for everything.
Food is delicious however the plates are not that gorgeous. Could add more delicacy. Most items on the menu are halal excvept for Chicken and Gyros (check with the waiter).

I took a trip to Phoenix and called the establishment. The phone was answered and i inquired about the meat. I recieved alot of sarcasim and gigling where he said the kabab is halal today and will not be tomorrow and the shawarma was halal yesterday and not today and the keufta will be halal monday but not tuesday. other people were included in this and one mentioned that "everything is halal but staying in this country is Haram". I did not feel comfortable considering these people are muslims and making fun about their principals. i ate at a seafood place instead.
This is a Mediterranean restaurant and a grocery in one. They have good meat.
This is the second time I have been here and it was sensational once again. I cannot get past how good the chicken shwarma is. There is a place in Tampico, Mexico that had set the chicken bar for me. This chicken shwarma is on another level. I am not a huge salad fan other than a nice ceasar salad but the tabooli is so nice and refreshing. I love the gyro meat. Sanbusek is a little slice of heaven. I don't live that close so I don't find myself in the area often. I will stop in whenever I am though. Top shelf service as well. Food comes quick. My wife loved the guava juice.
Great Middle Eastern restaurant and market! As a Jew whose culture shares most of the same cuisine, this food is the best and most authentic Arab-Mediterranen dining experience I've had in the valley. Kind staff as well! If you haven't tried it before, get their lebni. It's arguably the best yogurt in Arizona!
Wow! Yum :) got veg plate (pictured) and chicken shawarma with feta on the side. Absolutely definitely for sure recommend the feta like you should definitely get it. Huge fan of the vegetarian plate. The yogurt was delightful n everyone was happy :))))))
Authentic middle eastern food. Huge portions and great prices. Half of the location is grocery / takeout, so you can buy some more goodies on your way out. 10/10 recommend.
This was my inaugural visit to this establishment, and I must say that I was underwhelmed overall. A friend had recommended it and spoken highly of it. Unfortunately, the cuisine was quite bland and lacked flavor. The service was also slow, and our server seemed uncertain about which tables were receiving which dishes when the food arrived. We had to solicit our server's attention for refills and other requests. The restaurant features a lovely mural on the wall and accommodates approximately 10 tables. The lighting was adequate, and the adjacent Greek store adds a touch of authenticity. However, parking can be challenging due to the restaurant's location in a strip mall with other establishments. In retrospect, I would not prioritize this restaurant over other Greek eateries in the east valley.
I’ve been coming here for 20+ years and absolutely love it! I love that the menu hasn’t changed and the food flavors remain consistent. The servers are always friendly and the food comes out quickly. Don’t forget to get some delicious baklava on your way out!
I love Haji Baba. Always have. You cannot find better chicken Shawarma sandwiches anywhere. You cannot find better hummus anywhere! They are located conveniently off Apache in Tempe. This is a must visit. It’s also a grocery store. Very authentic. Not your average chain like pita jungle Not even close. This is a rare gem in Tempe. I have been coming here for years. The same people are always working! You know what you’re gonna get every time prices are incredible.
We decided to visit Haji Baba tonight for Middle Eastern food for our dinner. I have not been to this restaurant since before Covid, but I was happy to find the quality of the food was still excellent. My fair for tonight was lamb. Shish kebab, my wife’s was chicken Kebab and our friend had falafel. Plates are always full and food is always very good. The lamb was extremely tasty and tender as was the chicken kebab. My friend really enjoyed her falafels. The rice was fluffy and tasty. I wish the salad would’ve had some feta cheese on it, but that may be asking for too much. Service is with a smile and when you’re finished, you can always go to the other side and go grocery shopping. I definitely give this restaurant a thumbs up.
