Love the large serving provided! Overall the food was good. The chicken curry and beef rendang are my favourites! It's not very cheap though.
Food is good..beef rendang is the best..n yes a bit sweet..
One of the good choices for muslim. Serving halal food. Support them!
The Best Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesian food (halal) in Central Melbourne, visited during the Melbourne Halal Exhibition. Delegate from ASEAN Countries. Well done
Food is cheap but not very good, but there isn't much choice for halal restaurants.
We have been to this place twice and their food is absolutely delicious. The service is good but the place is generally very busy so you might need to wait a bit. Highly recommend this place if you want to try out some authentic Indonesian cuisine.
Excellent service by Micah! This is a nice Indonesian Restaurant in the heart of the City. I ordered Fried fish Barramundi with Rice. The Fish was a little crispy for my liking. However it was well seasoned and not too salty. The sambal sauce was quite nice.
A mist visit place to satisfy my sambal cravings in Melbourne. Food is authentic and delicious. Price is ok based on the location. Highly recommended to get Taliwang or grilled chicken/ribs.
Chill atmosphere, lots of seating, fast service, tasty food! Love that you can add the spicy sambal to whatever you want for a nice kick. Haven’t had Indonesian food before so I’m uncertain how authentic but the reviews and folks dining in gave me the indication it was authentic. Tasty and fresh :)
In this economy we need cheap eats and this maybe added to the list of such places. This is also a preferable spot for Muslims since they serve Halal certified food. They serve a bunch of curries with rice/noodle options starting from $15! Apart from that they do have some other set menu options to try from. In terms of taste to me it was quite new but not bad, I'd say average and I wish they increased the portion of rice. For the price I hope students can have a full belly meal. It is located in the heart of the city and close to Oppa restaurant. You can walk from Melbourne central station or take the tram because car is the last thing you want to use!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I recently had the pleasure of dining at Nelayan Indonesian Restaurant in Melbourne, and I must say, it was an incredible experience! The food is absolutely the best! As an Indonesian, the flavors and authenticity of the dishes made me feel like I was enjoying a home-cooked meal straight from Indonesia. The spices used in every dish are so rich and vibrant, reminding me of the traditional recipes I’ve grown up with. Each bite was a delightful journey through Indonesian cuisine. I highly recommend this restaurant not just to Indonesians, but to everyone who wants to explore and experience the unique flavors of Indonesia while in Melbourne. If you’re looking for a fantastic dining destination that offers genuine Indonesian food, Nelayan Indonesian Restaurant is the place to go. Don’t miss out on this culinary gem! You won’t regret it!
Delicious food. We didn’t get the grilled fish but if you go you definitely should. Many people around us ordered that and it looked amazing! We chose a few curries with rice. My husband loved the beef rendang. I loved the veggie curries. The pictures I’ve uploaded don’t do the food justice. Definitely good for a night where you just want some comfort food.
I’ve been here a couple of times already. They have decent food with fair prices. Great selection of dishes, feels relatively casual and homey, and not that busy despite its CBD location. I’ve gone during lunch so unsure if it’s busier during dinner. I’ve gotten this chicken, mushroom, beef ball, egg-noodle soup dish quite often. It’s warming and mildly enjoyable.
