Very nice cozy place, food is delicious.
Went to gypsy grill with 3 of my friends. Amazing food as authentic as it can be. Delicious food. Staff is so friendly and makes you feel like a family member. Love the food. The closest to eating in best Egyptian restaurants in Cairo. Better yet the prices are so reasonable. A must try
This is not your local dive Middle Eastern food place. It doesn’t look like much, but the food is 10/10. The falafel is not dry and the lamb chops are super tender. We always order the Every Day Family Value tray and just add some salad to round it out. We always have a lot left over too. If you’re in Jersey City it’s really worth it, and we’ve traveled from central NJ just for lunch.

This is an amazing place and we just tried their new dish. The barbecue chicken with fries and rice was amazing. The barbecue chicken had the char grilled smoky flavor to it which added to the flavor. We loved it and will definitely visit it. Their new dish barbecue chicken with rice and fries is a must try.

Delicious Lamb and Beef Shawarma. The Falafels were tasty. Great customer service. Came back a month later and had the Gypsy Platter and was amazing.

most kind staff and the food is so good!!!

Food is divine, full of flavor and the portion sizes are great. There are so many options! The service is friendly and tip top! It is a great homemade food middle eastern restaurant, sit in or take out. Enjoy regardless of where you eat!
It was my first time trying and I was a bit disappointed, my food was dry and the lamb was not tender at all. Chewy and tough piece of meat to get through overall. I struggled getting through a few bites without having to gulp plenty of water. The portions were very good for my shawarma sandwich and it was very well seasoned, but tough to finish due to the chew. I would revisit hopefully for a better result.
I cannot recommend this place enough. Every bite was flavorful and amazing, the kabob was seasoned well and the Koshary is exceptionally good And authentic, later on we got falafel which uncle Shahata made fresh and warm they were the best i had until now, Will definitely come back again. P.s the koshary is only available on weekends

Gypsy Grill is a solid kebab/Mediterranean spot. Always open late and at the east end of Newark Avenue, it is easy to find. They got some great specials, but their Shawarma bowl is fire. Large portion of saffron rice, tender chicken thighs, and some great sauces. A MUST is the hummus, by far some of the best hummus I’ve ever had. Strongly encourage an order at the minimum. It is high in sodium, after eating I definitely felt it….but it’s worth it.
Stopped by Gypsy Grill to pick up food for takeout. The staff was extremely polite and hospitable. I asked for recommendations and was told the Chicken Shawarma platter. I ordered one without onions and needless to say i wasn't disappointed. The food was excellent, full of flavor and authentic spices. The platter was a sizable portion and fed two of us. Highly recommend!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at gypsy grill that truly exceeded my expectations. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting, setting the perfect tone for a delightful meal. The staff was incredibly attentive and friendly, making sure we felt welcomed and well taken care of. The menu offered a diverse selection of dishes, each beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. I particularly enjoyed the mix grill which was cooked to perfection and had a unique blend of spices that made it stand out. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a halal meal in jersey city. The combination of excellent service, delicious food, and a cozy atmosphere makes it a must-visit spot!
Always a must to have lunch at Gypsy Grill when I am in the area. My favorite middle eastern spot to eat at. My go to is the Gypsy Mixed Grill platter with extra in house made garlic sauce. There spinach pies are also to rave about. I wish they can open a spot closer to Bergen County.
