Truly authentic Malaysian flavours here. We tried an array of dishes — satay, spring rolls, curry mee, laksam, sambal beef and chicken, chicken rendang, daging salai, nasi goreng kampung, and ended the night with onde-onde and kuih ketayap. Every dish hit the right notes and brought back that familiar taste of home. It honestly felt like eating in someone’s kampung kitchen — fittingly so, since the place is called My Kampong! The spice level was spot on — some dishes had a real kick, but as someone who loves chilli, it was perfect for me. The belacan that came with the nasi goreng kampung was so good! The daging salai stood out as my favourite — it had that real “bakar” taste that’s hard to find outside Malaysia. The onde-onde could’ve used a bit more melted gula melaka inside (the syrup didn’t fully dissolve), but it was still delicious overall. I also tried the bandung and it was perfect - not too sweet. The interior is beautiful too — a stunning mural of a kampung house, fake trees and flowers giving a 3D feel, and colourful wau kites hanging from the ceiling. You can really see the love and thought put into every detail. A lovely spot for anyone craving a real taste of home - highly recommend.
