Staff has given verbal assurance of halal status.. All food at this restaurant is certified halal.
Anarkali has been serving Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi food since 1980. While offering some Halal meat dishes, this establishment does serve alcohol at happy hour time (after work).

The best Indian restaurant
Muslim beware and don't be fooled! I just came back from this year yesterday and I drove by this restaurant and found a big sign that said "HAPPY HOUR" i think you can find hundreds of other verified halal restaurants in CA, skip this one! Management needs to take this add off!
Went here for dinner. Please note: ONLY the Chicken and Lamb are Zabihah (i.e. the beef is NOT). Overall the food was good and tasted well. They have a decent selection of menu items. The setting is nice and semi-formal with a nice ambiance and setting. The service was pretty good. Also, you can print a $10 off coupon from their website (which makes the prices really decent). The only drawback about this place is that they serve alcohol.
In search of a good indian restaurant in the area, my husband and I stumbled across Anarkali on Melrose. Greeted by very friendly owners and an intimate ambience, we browsed through an extensive menu and decided on ordering the Bombay Lobster, Tandoori Chicken, and Lamb Bhuna. Accompanied with roti and rice, we have to say our taste buds were aroused! All dishes were extremely tasty (especially the lobster), were non-oily (to our amazement) and presentation was great. We were too full to try the desserts but will definately be going back. Be sure to print off the $25 coupon from their website before you go! By the way, everything but the beef is halal. Owners are muslim.
This unique and wonderful place has been open for 48 years and, god willing, will be open for another 50. The beautiful building captivated our attention and we decided to have dinner here — a wonderful choice! We ordered the lentil soup to start and the four people dinner, all were absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. The atmosphere is fantastic as it really gives you that homemade cooking. We all walked away very well fed. Thank you Mohammed for taking such excellent care of our party. PS: The pickles are quite honestly perfection!!
I absolutely love Anarkali! We had the Chicken Tikka Masala and it was incredible, rich, flavorful, and super filling with a big side of rice. This place is such a hidden gem and deserves way more love. The atmosphere was really nice. We sat in a cozy booth on the side and enjoyed the chill Indian music playing in the background. Our waiter was amazing, so friendly and attentive, and even surprised us with a free serving of garlic naan just because. Can’t recommend this place enough!
This West Hollywood gem is a must for Indian food lovers! The service was outstanding—they even treated us to complimentary soup as an appetizer, which was a delightful start. The tikka masala was perfectly spiced and rich, while the chicken vindaloo brought just the right amount of heat. Paired with warm garlic naan, every bite was delicious. Cozy ambiance and top-notch service made the experience even better. Highly recommend!
Amazing place with great service. I visited here with my local LA friend and had a truly awesome experience. The server was very friendly and attentive. Garlic naan was the heaven, lamb curry was perfectly spicy and flavorful, and chicken tandoori was SO soft and yummy. The cinnamon dessert the server offered to us had a really strong flavor but still so good. Inside of the restaurant is spacious and it has a great atmosphere. So affordable as well. Thank you for your good food and service! We’d love to visit again.
Located in the middle of Beverly Hills and Hollywood, this is an absolute gem! We went at the last minute and the staff didn't hesitate to get us situated in no time without any trouble. Food was phenomenal and the atmosphere was excellent. If you are in the area, this is a must try.
If you’re even reading this you need to go and eat here!! This is our “death row meal” as a Turkish and Vietnamese couple and we drive from SAN DIEGO for this occasionally. Everything is amazing and there are just layers and layers of flavors. Mohammed has been there every time we were there and he is such a kind and welcoming host. No need to recommend specific dishes because it’s all hit and no misses!
Had a wonderful birthday dinner here, the owner + staff were super attentive and so nice! My group had a wonderful time, I definitely recommend coming here to support such a lovely local business :) A++ food, service and atmosphere!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at this incredible Indian restaurant, and I can confidently say it’s the best I’ve experienced so far. The staff was radiant, kind, and exceptionally accommodating, making sure that every aspect of the visit was well-informed and felt remarkably home-like. The food was nothing short of extraordinary. The masala dishes, naan, house sauces, and overall flavors were absolutely delicious, standing out among the many Indian restaurants I’ve visited. Each dish was crafted with love and attention to detail, with generous portions that made it perfect for both dining in and takeout. What truly sets this place apart is its warm, welcoming atmosphere. With 45 years of service, this gem has truly perfected its craft. I sincerely hope it continues for many years to come. If you have the chance, stop by—you won’t regret it.
