Decent halal place with sit down area and delivery services
Great food, reasonable prices and friendly service
Great food and great attitude loved the Falafel and the Shawerma very friendly service and very reasonably priced It is a single owner working with one help so expect a pit of delay but it is worth it to wait. For sure will return again
Mashallah the best shawarma ever had!
We visited this place based on the positive reviews on Yelp, their snazzy website also was appealing. You can't really tell from the pictures on the website, but the place itself is more of a take-out joint than a sit-in restaurant. There were only two tables when we went there. Service was a bit slow for a take-out place, but then again there was only one man preparing the food (and there was a steady stream of walk-in customers, even past 8pm on a weekday!). We weren't expecting much, but the food turned out to be rather good (and inexpensive). When we went to pay, the guy gave us the baklava we had ordered on the house (I guess since we were first-timers at the place). We would definitely come here again for take-out, but not to sit and eat!
This place has many local great reviews especially in local magazines and newspapers. The service is VERY slow. It took about 30 to 40 minutes to get three sandwiches, other customers were also frustrated. The salad items were old and tasted like the fridge, the shawarma was overcooked, but the chicken kabob was very good. Call ahead if you want to order, and avoid their salad items like tabouli etc.
Seriously disgusting. Everything tasted like it had been left out for days, and made with crisco. I threw my sandwich out. NOT REAL EGYPTIAN OR MIDDLE EASTERN FOOD.
Masha'Allah, what a great little place to eat! I went with the Muslim Student Association from my college (about 15 of us), and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves there. I got a beef/lamb shawarma platter which came with the shawarma meat, rice, salad, and bread. Everything was very fresh and full of flavor, Masha'Allah. There were also samples of lentil soup being given out, and it was honestly some of the best soup I had ever had. The people that worked there were extremely friendly and hospitable Masha'Allah. The restaurant itself is quite small, so if you're coming with a large group it's probably a good idea to call ahead of time to let them know you're coming. If you ask the workers there, they will show you to a spot to pray. I would definitely come here again Insha'Allah; it's a real gem in the Allston area.
Slow service, non serious attitude. I waited for about 40 min just to get 2 shawarma at 7 pm on week end night, as I was the only customer, so you can well imagine the service speed. The taste was same, rather no taste at all...
Ordered several items from Uber eats as part of a bogo deal including, veggie wrap, grape leaves, Egyptian fries, and baklava The wrap was great and def one of my favorites in the city so far. The sauces were very flavorful and it was stuffed. I also ordered some sauce on the side, but it looks like I got all three as part of the fries or wrap. The garlic and spicy garlic are amazing but the harissa seems to have too much black pepper in it. Fries were a large portion and baklava and grape leaves were what you'd expect. Thought the delivery was fast and very well packaged.
Definitely coming back again food was delicious! Don’t let you self be fooled by the bad reviews, this is definitely one of the few places where they actually sell halal food and you can taste in their flavors. So many vegetarian options. Love to see different cuisines coming together.
Alright so here’s the deal: A lot of 1 star reviewers are correct. The salad did not have any dressing and the hummus tasted a little funky. However I still think this place is a gem for being a local spot open late serving solid halal meat. Yes it’s a little expensive, yes the rice is somewhat bland. However the vibes are excellent and I enjoyed my meal. The chicken shawarma was tender, and well seasoned. They also have a separate Spanish menu with Hispanic food.
I think they just got a new owner. My falafel was so good! And everyone is so friendly
Just got a mixed shawarma plate there tonight. The meat was overcooked, the rice was completely unseasoned white rice, the salad was undressed and unseasoned, and worst of all… the hummus was old enough to ferment and had a “sparkling” texture to it. Oh and the pita was brittle and stale. This place used to be a hidden gem, but since the old owners aren’t around anymore, the quality has plummeted.
This placed USED to be good. New management should be shut down. Hummus was fermented and expired. The pita was stale. The chicken was burnt. The rice was crispy and obviously old. The Greek salad had no dressing, just cut up soggy vegetables. This place should not be allowed to exist. Let alone for a $16 dinner plate. Absurd and a shame
My recent visit to Azama was a letdown. I ordered the mix shawarma over rice, but the dish lacked flavor and the beef shawarma was dry. Service was sluggish, and the ambiance couldn't salvage the experience. Azama has room for improvement. I can't recommend it in its current state.
Awful. Terrible. Disgusting. I got to my nearby hotel at midnight and this place was open and a couple blocks away. I should have read the reviews first. I ordered the falafel plate. The falafel balls were completely bland and tasteless and soggy and smelled like old grease, served on top of plain, tasteless, day-old white rice with a little tahini mixed in (?). Some plain cucumbers and onions and a pickle.. also completely tasteless. It was all gross. I took like two bites of everything (just because I was starving) and had to throw the rest away. Complete waste of money. Don't go here.
