GoogleI went into my local Sainsburys Enfield Retail Park Crown Road EN1 1TH on 27.1.2026 to purchase some food items and to browse around the clothing clearance aisle. I picked up 3 clothing items all with the large yellow 70% off. I was at a self-service card only checkout & started to scan the items. I called for assistance as a reduced pack of cakes were scanning at the original price. The matter was rectified by a staff member covering checkouts and l carried on packing my items. I scanned a skirt marked 70% off, a jacket marked 70% & a pair of trouser's marked 70% of. I noted the jackets 70% price reduction had not gone through & only 50% of the jacket was reduced. I called the member of staff who assisted me before & showed her the price reductions on the item. She took the jacket from me & tried to remove the 70%off label. I showed her the matching skirt with the 70% reduction which had gone through. She stated the jacket was not 70%off & somebody had changed the sticker from 50%to 70%. l I informed her l did not change the label & again showed her the matching skirt. She stated she did not say l changed the sticker, but it clearly has been changed. She took the jacket and she said l could not purchase it & it had to be sent to the clothing department to check the prices. I even offered to get different sized jacket in the same colour that was also priced at 70%. off, but she said no it had to be returned. I stated l would go over to the clothing department to show the jacket & she advised it was unmanned. She suggested l should return around 8.00am today to purchase the jacket when it be seen & the price ascertained. I stated l wouldn't purchase either the jacket or the skirt then carried on packing my shopping. I was flushed, hot, upset & embarrassed because the inference was that l had changed the reduction stickers. I thought about the situation & stated l would purchase the jacket at the 50% price she thought it had been changed from & go back to the store in the morning to get the jacket at the correct price. I also cancelled the purchase of another pair of trousers marked 70% off & put it in the area with other clothing items to be returned. I explained that the same situation happened to me a couple of weeks ago in this branch. The matter was rectified by 2 members of staff who overrided the system & reduced the item to from 50% off to 70% off. I felt physically sick, embarrassed, stressed out ridiculed, victimised & humiliated. I paid for my shopping & was heading out of the self-service zone, but l felt ill, tearful and off-balance & looked for a seat to rest. I sat in that seat for what seemed about 10 minutes trying to get myself together to get to my car. Whilst sitting there l saw somebody l knew at a checkout, she asked if l was ok and l said l wasn't. She told me wait there as she was going to put my bags in her trolley & she would take them to my car, & thankfully she did. As soon as l got into the car l started crying. I was really upset about my interaction with the member of staff. l was made to feel like a common thief. I have shopped at Sainsbury's initially with my mom since aged 3-4 right throughout my life to the single retired 66 year old woman l am now. I have shopped at this Sainsbury's store since moving to Enfield 4.12.21 l have only had two bad experiences. The 1st 1 was where there was no barcode on an item & l asked for assistance from a worker in Customer Services. He said l had to enter the number's & l told him they were to small for me to read & he loudly stated " If you can't read the bloody numbers how do you expect me to read them?? He then took the item & started putting the numbers in, & when he finished he said "don't expect me to do it again" & stormed off to address another issue. I was absolutely speechless. The 2nd was my experience 27.1.21. I returned to the store this morning. Informed the manager about the incident, she checked the receipts and 70% off labels & gave me a refund & apologised about the incident. See attached photos.
