About Pho

Stephen and Juliette Wall opened Pho in June 2005 after they travelled to Vietnam and fell in love with the food. They made the decision to start a restaurant serving pho while sat on high stools, slurping pho bo, in Ho Chi Minh City. 15 years later, Pho is still a family-run business serving great value, healthy Vietnamese street food that is cooked fresh daily (no central kitchens!).

Can What the Pho'k ever be more than watery MSG flavored broth? There was once a time around last year summer when I stumbled into what the Pho'k the first time I tried the broth it had everything I could ever ask from Pho the deep beefy flavor the whole spices especially star anise and the funk from the first sauce but since it's popularity has grown amongst the quick lunch grabbing office goers of Farringdon - It has been on a steady decline especially the broth , It's tepid and tastes like water mixed in with MSG , none of that original flavor that I once was a fan of they tried to overcompensate by adding newer dishes to the menu but none of them are a hit since they ALL USE THE SAME BROTH. The broth tastes nothing like beef you're more likely to get more beef flavor from store bought broth than this supposed "Pho" place all it tastes of is msg. Especially when there are far better options nearby especially Ngon Ngon which offeres much better "Pho" I would say miles ahead for a similar price point hence I see this place as redundant. They aren't what they used to be.
